I recently ran into a problem after my attempt to download a neat theme for windows 7, which required me to do a bunch of changes with installed software to make the theme work properly. I never managed to make the theme work, so I decided to just dump it all and go back to the normal. After having done all these changes, I ended up not being able to switch my desktop or anything. I tried to right click desktop and choose personal settings, but it only ended up with the error 'unspecified failure' with the explorer.exe. Okay, this should be an easy fix or so I thought.
I have now spent hours on google, trying to find a solution, even trying every solution with no luck. Then I remembered that I have a disc with the windows software, so I might aswell just reinstall the whole software.
When I try to install the windows software, I am given the error messages 'D: Sources SPWIZENG.DLL is either not intended to run in windows or it contains an error. Try to install the program again with help of the original installation medias or contact system admin or program reseller if you wish for help.' Aswell as 'The file 'autorun.dll' could not be loaded or is corrupt. Setup cannot change continue. Error code is 0xC1' This is quite bothersome I thought, so I decided to go ahead and restart the pc with the cd and boot it from the cd instead. I got into it all, but when I decided to try and reinstall windows 7, I once again was met with a problem, and the problem was that the driver or cd could appearantly not be found (The d drive). I am completely out of ideas now, and slightly frustrated.
I've never really been frustrated about these kind of things, because I always thought I had my cd to go back on, in case something like this should happen, but appearantly not! The pc is functional still, but my main problem is the current theme and the fact that I can change nothing and it have only ended up worse when I realised I could not reinstall windows at all. Just to show somewhat more detailed what I did which seem to have caused this problem, I followed this youtube video to the letter - Hope there is some help.
Windows 7 Update Error
I have downloaded Windows 7 from the offical Microsoft website and have mounted the ISO image using Virtual Clone Drive. I opened up the file and then selected setup.exe to launch the Windows 7 installation. However i get the following error 'D:/Sources SPWIZENG.DLL is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.
Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.' The above error is then followed by the following error 'The file autorun.dll could not be loaded or is corrupt.
Windows 7 Installation Error 0x80070017
Setup cannot continue. Error code is 0xc1' I have done extensive searching on Google for a solution but im unable to find one. I am however able to find many posts from users who have the same problem, not only with Windows 7, but with Vista and XP too.
This error seems to happen on actual DVD's aswell as ISO's. Please can someone help, like many others, ive waited a while to get my hands on Windows 7 and it's getting a little fustrating. I was going to partition my drive but then i come across the problem where Vista says i have 0 space to shrink the volume, when actually i have 25GB free space. I ran a defrag using PerfectDisk has some other forums recommended, but Vista Partitioning still says 0 free space. Therefore i thought the only way forward would be to use my external hard drive.
Looks like i will have to solve the partition issue, but then again, lots of other people still have the.dll error when running the file from a DVD too.
