Hello, I got an ASUS M2A-VM motherboard for Christmas, and I cannot get it to turn the power supply on. The LED on the motherboard is on, but the power supply will not turn on. Here are the parts: Antec SP500 ATX 12v PSU AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ 4GB G-Skill SDRAM ATI Radeon x1800 SoundBlaster Audigy 4 Pro I know that the power supply works, as I just changed the motherboard and the psu works fine with the old motherboard. I've examined every section of the motherboard and checked every connection multiple times, and I see no reason at all for it to not be working. I've also tried booting only the motherboard and I still had the same problem. Is it possible that the power supply is too weak? Could the motherboard or processor be faulty?

Thanks for your help!

I have this motherboard: ASUS M2A-VM I really enjoyed it. Cheap and easy. And lots of features. But I tried to update the BIOS, I followed the procedure (saved the BIOS on the pen drive, used EZ Flash), but when the procedure was done, it said 'Rebooting computer in 5 seconds', it restarted and. Now my computer does not start anymore. Any chance I can revive the motherboard? If not, I am thinking to buy an Gigabyte GA-MA74GM-S2 (not sure which revision though) However, if I buy this Gigabyte motherboard (with Virtual Dual BIOS Technology and BIOS Setting Recovery Technology as it's advertised), then can I be sure that I can recover it after a failed BIOS upgrade?

Only Gigabite motherboards have the Dual BIOS feature? Oh and, it's just me or the FAQ's are not working? (the stickies that went into FAQ) It only shows me a blank page with 2 words: 'It works!'

Isn't removing the jumper all that has to be done to clear CMOS? Depends on the motherboard. Some take longer than others, and others want you to start the system that way. Some don't have a jumper, but have two contact points (on older system boards) you have to short. Some even have a push button to clear CMOS, but require a jumper for the bios password. In the old days, sometimes you had to short out a system's chipset and bios chip to get it to totally clear, after removing the battery.

I see there is indeed a 'Clear CMOS' jumper. I will try that in a few hours, when I will get to my computer. But I'm afraid thats for reseting only the CMOS (in cases of failed overclocking) and does not restore an old BIOS. Hopefully it will work tho.

I took the battery off and switched the jumper to 'Clear CMOS' state. Now it works! And I have the new BIOS now, last version, that I updated to. The buggers at the computer shops (including the shop where I bought the motherboard from) 'forgot' to tell me about the Reset CMOS. Of course, they want to sell new motherboards.

Thanks a lot for help, greatly appreciated!!
